In her text, Caroline Garcia explained that she will retire in the coming weeks " after 15 years of competing at the highest level ."
" I feel ready to turn the page and open a new chapter ," explains the Lyonnaise, who reached world number 4 in 2018. " My journey hasn't always been easy. Since I started, tennis has always represented much more than victories or defeats. It was love or hate. Joy or frustration. And despite everything, I am deeply grateful for everything this adventure has offered me. For everything that tennis has given me, " she continues.
" But today, it's time to move on. My body—and my personal aspirations—are asking me to. " However, fans of the Lyonnaise's game will still have the opportunity to see Caroline Garcia on the courts in the coming months. She will notably be competing at Roland-Garros starting this weekend. While she stated in her farewell message that she still has " a few tournaments " left to play, the exact date of her retirement from the tour is currently unknown. The player, who won the Women's Masters in 2022, is currently ranked 145th in the world.
